Corneal transplantation is a surgical procedure in which the damaged cornea is replaced by a healthy and transparent cornea of another individual who has died.
Corneal transplantation A section of the cornea is replaced by a healthy cornea. This is done in two ways, either by replacing all the thickness or by replacing the injured part only. Corneal transplantation is one of the most successful and widespread farming operations in the visual care center.
Corneal transplantation is performed by a surgical microscope.
In the beginning, the surgeon removes the central section of the patient’s cornea and then places the healthy cornea in the patient’s eye in the same place where the infected cornea has been removed and then stabilizes it with a thick, thin thread. Stitches should be kept in place for a long time because the corneal fixation needs a long period of time and may last several months. This procedure can be performed under local anesthesia or general anesthesia. If the procedure is performed by local anesthesia, the patient is awake during the operation but does not feel pain. After the operation is completed, the patient is discharged from the center.
